What would be the longest running emo band ever? |
since emo bands are known for not lasting long (one of my friends has been in about 6 in the last 3 years, and September, one of the most beloved bands of the genre only lasted 9 months, and played only 2 shows in their entire existance), this would be an interesting question. The first obvious pick is Fugazi, been together for something like 15 years, but they aren't really emo, just one of the bands that laid the groundwork for it. The next obvious pick is Still Life which just broke up last year and lasted around 10 years, but that's including a 4 year or so period when they never officially broke up but litterly did nothing. After that also comes the obvious Sunny Day Real Estate which broke up around 9 years after they started, but they also were on hiatus, officially breaking up in 1995 and reforming in 1997 (minus one of the members who joined the Foo Fighters)
so who is it? I think Twelve Hour Turn were around for 6 years or so, possibly them.

1. I would still say Sunny Day |
Because if you listen to their new band Firetheft, it is Sunny Day minus one member. http://www.thefiretheft.com/

2. If Still Life Counts... |
... then so should Jawbreaker (89-95, then 2002).
