They were oh so dangerous. I doubt they encourage 4 year olds to use sharp scissors and a hot oven like they did in the 70's. :)

The problem is that now you have to use the 'special ShrinkyDink oven' which requires you to find a particular light bulb to cook them (can't remember the type, only that I looked all over town for one).

I loved those when I was a kid. I didn't know they were still around, I haven't noticed them in toy stores for a long time (but I guess I don't go to toy stores very often).

Contrary to another post, you can still make them perfectly well in your home oven, I do it all the time. There are several colors and types sold at Michael's. They are great for making customized buttons or wine glass labels or even light-weight earring charms.
