How much did you pay for your equipment? Please describe your installation.
The information on the web is extremely vague.

Monthly plan - $12.+ (taxes, etc.)
It took me approximately 20 minutes to install and subscribe via the net. Way easy! And I guess I got lucky, antenna worked in first place I set it. I do have wires all over the place. We'll have to figure that out later.
Edit to add: I plugged everything in according to directions (ac adaptor, antenna, audio jack into stereo, etc., turned it on, logged on and "TA DA"!

according to the placement map in the instructions, I should have it in a north window. The cord isn't long enough to do that, so I put it in a south window. The signal isn't as strong as it could be, but it's coming thru just fine, not cutting out, no wavering. It's fantastic!
FYI, Instructions say the antenna is weatherproof and can be put outdoors. We may try that, just because the stereo system is close to the door.

Loving it.
When not listening to AAR, I keep it tuned to 144 (Jam_On, all jam bands all the time), 133(Classic Radio, has all kinds of old radio shows on, fun stuff), and a few others.
I had some problems getting the home antenna placed properly at first, but seems to be fine now :)

5. Well, if you consider the Grateful Dead to be "urban contemporary" |
|
then maybe.
But no, I've never considered it that.

What I should have written, then, was "Isn't that what they used to call 'stoner rock'?"

9. LOL . . . let's put it this way :) |

I've never heard the Dead or other jam bands referred to as anything but "jam bands." The term is relatively new.
Perhaps Bill Graham said it best when he said "They're not the best at what they do, they're the only ones who do what they do." The Dead were never really able to be categorized because they had too many styles going on. Others followed in their footsteps (with so many different styles and influences that they couldn't be shoehorned into any particular "style" of music).
The term "jam band" was pretty much created to define something that remained undefined for over 30 years :).
