Anybody know Tommy Lee Jones' politics?
I was watching Men In Black II, with the director's commentary. TLJ was talking with Barry Sonnenfeld about Rip Torn and called Torn an "old liberal". I don't know if he meant it just as a statement of fact or what.

I know TLJ was Al Gore's roommate at Harvard, and he's an actor of unusual sensitivity to go with his gruff manner, but considering he's a REAL cowboy, with a REAL ranch in Texas, I wondered what his politics were. Anybody know?

1. Liberal I think
Spoke at Dem convention in 2000, to talk about Al. Either knew Gore or roomed with him at Harvard.

2. Something tells me if he spoke at the dem convention in '00
that he's not a conservative, even if he may have some conservative politics.

3. He was Al Gore's roommate in college
and longtime friend. He spoke at the Dem Convention in 2000. He is a LIBERAL.

4. I'm so glad to hear that.
I mean, I suspected, but still...

He made "old liberal" sound vaguely like an accusation. And y'know, I never really cared for Rip Torn before. Now that I know he's a lefty, I think he's terrific!

7. I think he was speaking fondly of Rip Torn being an old liberal
Rip Torn is also a liberal and a real Texan like Tommy Lee, so maybe there's a comaraderie there.

Tommy Lee made a great speech for Gore at the 2000 Dem Convention. They were college roommates and are buddies. So I find it hard to believe he would be a wingnut. (Plus Tommy Lee's a good actor, and as we all know, wingnut "actors" almost universally blow.)

He appeared at a reelection rally for Bill Clinton in front of the Alamo in San Antonio in 1996. Got a great ovation from the crowd of several thousand. Jones, by the way, also lives in San Antonio.

8. Yep and anyone who lives in Alamo Heights has a story
of him coming into town and being, to put it politely, a bit of an asshole. Still like his movies, but if you see him, give him wide berth and don't espect him to wait in line with everyone else. But, yes, he and Gore were roomies and he supported Gore in 2000.

11. I like Rip
he was funny in Michael Moore's "Canadian Bacon" and on Larry Sanders show. Glad to hear he's a liberal. Seems like all the best actors are.
