The "I can't stand my in-laws because..." thread! |
|
I can't stand my in-laws because they're racists and homophobic yet try to judge me because I'm a liberal, my parents lived in a mobile home, and I married (and corrupted) their precious little girl.

2. I loved both my in-laws. |
|
They both passed away inside 5 years of each other. I miss them.
:(
Sorry to see some folks don't get along with theirs. It's sad.

They are crazy alcoholics who live in a trailer park in Florida and who used to call us at all hours of the night, telling us how great Repukes are.

5. Tombo's parents are nice but they are so f***ing BORING |
|
if I have to hear one more g.d. story about their latest trip to Central Market, I don't know what I'll do. As it is, while I'm hearing these stories I'm thinking of ways I could kill myself using just things I see in their house. :O

7. One of my in laws killed himself and the remaining in law walked out on |
|
my husband when he was just 12 years old, leaving him with an alcoholic father. And still, to this day, she wants us to feel sorry for her for what SHE went through. My husband went through 10 million times what she did. He was the one cleaning up the messes, trying to talk dad out of suicide, and eventually, cleaning up the final mess, after he found his father dead. It really pisses me off. I have no sympathy.

8. My mother-in-law is nuts |
|
It is rather unfortunate that she chose the life that she did but it is not my fault so she shouldn't take it out on me. She changed a number of things about herself like her hair style and mannerisms to please her future mother-in-law to marry her husband who was very snobbish. I would not do the same thing for her. She criticized me for being myself and told my husband that he should not marry me because of my undesirableness(in her eyes) but he married me anyway. She has always done all the house work throughout her marriage, basically taking care of everything around the house. Our house is usually a bit messy and I want my husband to help me, but she says that I am a lousy wife for not doing everything even though I work more hours and make more money than my husband. She took care of her eldery parents and in laws. Her husband has had a number of health problems and wonders why we are not helping (We live three hours away and both work full time). She has been rather miserable most of her married life but this is not my fault. My father-in-law is devoted to his career and has physical problems which are worse because he was lazy with physical therapy and lets his wife bully my husband and me.

9. My Partner's Family Has Made Me Feel SO-o-o-o Welcome In Their Family... |
|
... I'm so lucky!!
For my family... it's been just my mom and my sister who have made Mike feel loved and welcomed. For everyone else, they treat him as politely as they would a stranger. They are never rude... just a bit awkwardly distant.

10. ...there are so many of them |
|
I'm including my hubby's 8 siblings and thier spouses. At every minute...of every hour...of every day there is some kind of family drama. Someone is always mad at someone else. I had to distance myself from it and have to say I am a lot happier now.

They are all insane, but they're good people, and I really feel like I am part of their family now. And they read DU sometimes! Some of them.
