Poll question: Best SST Records Act? |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 02:50 AM by SweetZombieJesus
Best. Record Label. Ever.
I decided today that the Meat Puppets album II is now my favorite album of all time.

5. Husker Du hands down.... |
|
Being how Nirvana was little more than a pale, pale, weakend imitation of everything Husker Du did, and since Nirvana is one of the biggest bands of all time....well you do the math.

7. i didnt know Husker Du was on SST... |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 08:49 AM by TheBigGuy
...but yeah, this was a key band for sure.
I always thought it was funny that alot of folks where doing "grunge" before grunge.....not just Husker Du but bands like Eleventh Dream Day ("Prairie School Freakout" and "Beet" where pretty damn good grungesque "guitar rock" albums that preceded Nirvana).

14. Agree on both counts... |
|
And I'm voting for Negativland.
Fuck that asswipe Greg Ginn, though. I've read both books on the U2 single debacle, and seen the movie "Sonic Outlaws", and he comes off as a complete prick.

8. You should do an Amphetamine/Reptile poll. |
|
Some wonderfully weird/great bands on that label. The God Bullies, in particular.

9. Voted for Husker Du, but easily could've chosen Minutemen |
|
would've liked to seen a poll with saccharine trust. Surprising that Sonic Youth is vote-less.

I have one of their LPs--truly amazing. I now have a pretty solid conception of HOW MANY people are members of DU when two can be Nig Heist fans!
I voted for Negativland, but I have to say that the best concert experience of my life was seeing Bad Brains, and I have seen many SST bands live. Bad Brains rocked, and were tight to the extreme.

My fave as well, however, I voted for Descendents because I adore them and they weren't gettin' no love. :)

... I wonder where they got their name - because in Danish, it translates to "Do you remember".
