I have friends who started a polka band in college, don't know why but they are really good and they play all over. I have the unique distinction of being the only female allowed to play with them in the 30 or so years they have been playing. It was a big gig but because of all the beer I barely remember it!

click the link....it's a great show. 2 hours every Sunday afternoon. Easy on the beer so you can remember the show. ;)

earlier this summer, and on Monday morning a local radio station did a full hour of polka! What a great way to start the week. I defy anyone to be anything other than happy and energized listening to that stuff!

but I am originally from Euclid, Ohio...home of the Polka Hall of Fame!
(Sorry to say I have only bad memories of Kucinich. I understand he has matured since his Boy Mayor days, but I've still gotta question his leadership abilities.)

7. There are polkas and there are polkas..... |

I notice a big difference between the German polka of southcentral PA Dutch country and the polka I grew up with. (Transylvanian Saxon ethnicity, lived north of Pittsburgh) The one here is TAME!....No screaming (when you're overtaken with polka rapture, you shriek) no stomping, no kicking up of the heels. An abandoned polka with a good partner is as good as sex sometimes.....in fact, polka SHOULD be our euphemism for sex! Beats "sleeping" with someone!

really good...
I tend to like the more southern slav stuff ...my dad was a croatian .. Nothing like good Tambura music...
I had a polka band play at my wedding...
"Two pierogies in a pot..one is cooking one is not...la la la lala la la...la lala la lala la..." ...sung to the wedding dance..
