21. Doesn't (or didn't) Rush use the intro |
|
to that song as his theme song???? I don't listen to him, but I thought my friend told me that.
I also like "I'll stand by you" because I associate the song with by now 20-year old son. He was going through a rough patch a number of years ago and we heard it on the radio when we were having a heart-to-heart talk. I told him it was "our song."

27. It has a long instrumental intro |
|
and he uses it as background for: "coming to you from the EIB (that's the "Excellence :puke: In Broadcasting" Network. Sadly, Chrissie has (I assume) let him do this.

11. "The Wait"--most infectious, syncopated rhythm ever. |
|
To me, it's the definitive American New Wave song.
Aside: who here knows Chrissie Hynde used to have a day job ghostwriting those 'legitimate' letters to Penthouse Forum?

Pretenders are one of my all time favorite bands. "Kid" should have made the list IMO too.

15. Saw them in '84 (or there abouts). |
|
Chrissie rocked the house. In tight leather pants.
Hubba Hubba!
One of the best shows I have been to. Only regret is that The Alarm was supposed to be the opening act, but had to cancel due to an illness. Bummer.

|
and I agree - one of the best shows I've ever been to, and I've been to hundreds. I've seen them 3 times, including just recently (last year). Chrissie still rocks every seat in the house (at 50 years old). I recommend their latest album. It's actually quite good.

the leather pants were great, the music was great, and regrettably, thats all I remember - Damn the demon rum! I'd add The Adultress to the list, and Time the Avenger.

I could also, depending on my mood, go for "Precious," "Talk of the Town," or "My City Was Gone," but those have already been mentioned, and I like swimming against the current.
