Any "Ween" fans here?
I dig them. Sure some songs are abrasive but generally speaking they're almost "PG"...

Like them? No? Yes?

3. I want to like them but something about them...
I appreciate their whole aesthetic and their genre jumping and home recording and experimentation deserves mucho credit.

But I'm lame and like a little more consistency and a little less jokiness with my bands.

I wish I could get past my reservations but this many years on I'm still not able to.

6. Truthfully? I hated them the first time I heard "HIV".
And that menengitis song too. YUCK! Bizzarro!

But I gave in eventually and appreciated their obviously hyper-critical, relatively vulgar, approach.

5. That's what does it for me! Bizarre, honest, lyrics.
Along with great vocals.

8. Ween are great
but the one album that I am supposed to love the most as a Ween Fan, God, Ween, Satan just doesn't work for me so I don't think I can call myself a true fan. That said, You Fucked Up and Birthday Boy are great. 12 Country Greats is fantastic. Chocolate and Cheese remarkable, the live Painting the Town was a blast but I don't own it (disk 2 is a little much). The Mullusk was pretty fun, but I don't go back to it very often. Anyone heard Quebec or seen 'em on tour of late? I hate Push Th' Little Daisies - which I suppose was their closest thing to a hit.

9. A "Hit"? Never!
Haven't heard a word about then on SW FL radio. They all play like they're wild boys but honestly, DJ's here are all mostly Automatrons, they have "bad boy" talking points and that's about it.

11. Old, old, like 1992, back when MTV played video
and college radio actually played breaking music. They were in heavy rotation on 120 minutes and sometimes late afternoon. Were all over the college station list. I can't imagine anyone but college stations playing Ween these days. Wish I lived near a good college station. Thanks for posting on 'em, think I'll drag some out tonight!

10. Buddy Ogden and the Shit Creek Boys
Remember them? They were the country band that played with Ween on 12 Golden Counrty Greats. I saw Ween live on that tour, and it was quite an experience.

Picture it: Dean & Gene playing "Big Jilm" and "ReggaeJunkieJew" with full country accompaniment. It was great, they played on ALL their songs, not just the country ones. Pleasantly bizarre.

For their encore/finale they played "Penny" which seemed to last about half an hour. The bottle of whiskey and whippets they had on stage may have had something to do with that.
