Holy shit, Batman! It's DemoTex!
Sorry DUers, I have been remiss in updates. I am now in my mountain house near Brevard, NC. The beauty of these mountains is indescribable. I hike daily, as much as I can, and discover new gorges, waterfalls, and trails everyday. My dogs are in heaven. So am I. So is Mrs/Dr Demotex.

I am on ultra-slow dial-up now. I do have DSL on the dialtone, but my computer is not yet rigged for that. It'll be a week or so. Since I don't really know the date or care, it is not a problem for me.

I'll be on for a short while (paying the ATT per minute fee). For my ham radio friends, I am limited. I will be constrained to 10 and 20 meter low-power modes such as PSK-31 until I get some wire in the air.

3. I went to music camp
at Brevard. It is a beautiful place to be. Is Sliding Rock still a fun place to go? It was a blast when I was 17, maybe not for me now! Have a wonderful time, it is so pretty around there, I spent many hours hiking in the woods.

8. Sliding Rock
Haven't been there yet, but I have two waterfalls on my property. I also have an open hiking trail right through my property. I've got signs up for hikers to my deep well spigot near the trail.

10. I have 3 words for you:
North. Carolina. Barbecue.

Two more words:

Brunswick. Stew.

Could be all you really need to know, besides Country. Ham. ;-)

Hey DemoTex!! Glad you made it here to NC and are enjoying Brevard. :hi: At least now you don't have to worry about looking for Eric Rudolph.

14. And neither band is open very much these days....
I might look for you on 20M PSK, Mac, but I don't get into NC very well except for 80 or 160...

If you run across a guy up in Wendell named Johnny, say "Hi" for me, that's an old-time bud of mine, and do NOT pass up a chance to sample his "Panzer Pilsner"...

17. Good to talk to you again, Mac.
I've been in awe of the North Carolina countryside since I saw "Last of the Mohicans" which was filmed there. Gorgeous place from what I can see. Hope to go there someday. Welcome back! :hi:
