JOYGASM! Listening to new Living Colour CD one month early!!! |
|
By pre-ordering on Amazon, I get to stream the entire freaking thing as often as I want until the middle of October (by which time I'll have the CD in my greedy lil' hands)!

I now recognize the new tunes I didn't know when I saw them live this summer. Could be a lousy stream or my ancient computer, but the production seems really stripped down -- either on purpose or because they're on a smaller label...who knows?
The cover of "Back in Black" is here, and it's OK. There's also a cover of The Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows", which is really good. And there's a new version of "Sacred Ground", a version of which was on the "Pride" greatest hits CD. Onto the new stuff:
Four tracks are inspired by 9/11 -- the guys, after all, are from New York. "A Question of When" sounds like it's sung from the point-of-view of a paranoid freeper. "Operation Mind Control" is a really catchy song about "the battle for America's soul". "Flying" is an eerily pretty, bittersweet song about a couple of WTC jumpers. "In Your Name" is an angry song from the point of view of a US soldier -- "We got missiles and tanks, we got bombs and planes, we got plans and people, and we do it in your name."
