Good Monday everybody and welcome to Mondays 'IN' The Undergroundrailroad ! . How is everyone doing today? Well, today we're going to jump start our week with a luscious, creamy, scrumptious Cheesecake from the famous
JUNIORS RESTAURANT in none other than BROOKLYN, NEW YORK! I have to tell you that I have tasted this Cheesecake and there is nothing like it!
There is a book
Welcome to Junior's: remembering Brooklyn with recipes and memories from its favorite restaurant, by Marvin Rosen. It describes in detail
Junior's significant success as a restaurant
"(a place where politicians eat comfortably alongside teachers and taxi drivers") and recipes that you can
attempt to try.

Leon Harris To CNN, SEE YA! "I've done everything I could do at CNN". Those are the words of Leon Harris, anchor of
CNN LIVE TODAY, who is leaving the network after 20 years to work for
ABC affiliate Washington's WJLA.
I will miss Leon Harris and his international presence at CNN, something I think CNN took for granted, too long. Leon Harris, who celebrated his 20th year with CNN this summer, was being shifted and moved all over the CNN line-up. In the past two years, he has shifted from early morning to mid-afternoon to his current late-morning slot. Leon told
The Washington Post he found it a "bit disconcerting" that at times even
he did not know where
he could be found on the giant network. Lately, viewers could find Leon substituting for vacationing news anchors on
American Morning then suddenly back to another time slot as simply a "news reader". Why wasn't Leon Harris receiving those high profile gigs as many of his colleagues such as Anderson Cooper, Paula Zahn and Bill Hemmer?
A little background. Leon Harris joined CNN in 1983 as a camera man. He has served as anchor for
CNN Live Today, CNN Presents, Early Edition, Prime News and The World Today. He also covered the unfolding events during 9-11 from CNN's world headquarters in Atlanta. In addition to that, he has covered major breaking news stories such as the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, in which the network received an EMMY Award. He was also a presence during the Los Angleles riots in 1991 conducting many man-on-the-street interviews for CNN's live coverage. Leon has been honored with many awards which included Best Newscaster in the 17th and 19th annual CableACE award and was the recipient of the Louis R. Lautier Memorial Award.
Leon Harris attended Ohio University earning a bachelor's degree and graduating cum laude.
Leon Harris seems content and secure in his career move to Washington's capital. He reflects on his departure from CNN in this way, "It was a matter of reaching a point in my career where it was just time to try something different." "The one thing I don't want to lose is the menu I have to order from every day. When I come in
, I'm doing national stuff, international stuff, stuff out in outer space. This market is such a unique blend of all that."
Personally, I'm going to miss Leon Harris in that CNN anchor seat. He was such an inspiration to so many people who looked forward to his segments. However, I will look forward to seeing him in another venue and the new contributions he will make in Washington. He will continue to be a role model and inspiration for so many African-American journalists. Leon Harris paved the way for blacks who found it difficult finding a comfortable place in international broadcast journalism.
Today, CNN is promoting a new lineup including a program for Paula Zahn, PAULA ZAHN NOW . In that promotion they mention Paula Zahn's "experience". Well, Leon Harris has that same "experience" and so much the better for ABC and WJLA.
For now, Mr. Harris goes to Washington! Much luck my long time CNN Anchor.

BUSH BILLIONS CAN BUY YOU A LOT!
WE all know that last night * went before the nation and the world to request 87 BILLION DOLLARS to "do what is neccesary" to win the war on terrorism.
According to a variety of sources 87B can buy a LOT! For example, 49B could provide a LOT of health care for this country in one year. Also you could actually purchase DELL COMPUTERS and AOL with 87 Billion (this according to CNN). Senator Bob Graham, one of our Presidential Candidates for 2004, explained last night 87 Billion could provide new transportation systems and improve our nation's highways and bridges. Senator Graham also said that 87 Billion was less then or equal to the national education budget.
I don't know about you, but this staggering amount of money is difficult for *ME* to comprehend. I think this country is increasingly skeptical of the long and difficult mission in Iraq. Last night I composed letters to all my elected officials and I urge everyone with the same concerns to do the same.
Congress.org is an excellent web-site if you would like a simple and easy format to write letters to your elected officials. I urge everyone to make their voice heard.

Questions of the Day!
OK, today we're going to try something a little different. It's time for NAME THAT COMMERCIAL TRIVIA . Can you name this TV commercial in 3 notes? ALL of the commercials are recent (just saw a few today, 9/8/03) and are shown on ALL the major networks( ie CNN, MSNBC, ABC, etc. )
Ok, this is how it works. I will give you a three word (or less!) "hint" and YOU will name the commercial by completing the phrase and name the product/service being advertised.
Example: WHERE"S THE ____? Where's the Beef? WENDYS
OK, here we go!
