What's YOUR nickname and WHY?
Mine's Cha Cha. :)

My hungarian grandfather gave it to me when I was about 3. Seems I thought I was pretty fancy and liked to dance when I was a toddler, and he said one day "My she sure looks like a little Zsa Zsa(Gabor)" and with his accent it sounded like "cha cha" ;)

Anybody else with a nickname given to you that stuck? ;)

2. Rubio
cause I was real blond when I was little (not any more though)

More Recently: Among my gaming friends I came to be called "The Emperor" :D

Simply because several years ago when Quake 2 first hit the streets I was the best at it among all my friends so I would always gather up all the armor and health and go around killing people...One day I was surprised by someone who shot me twice with a rocket at point blank before I could even turn around. He stopped and when I turned around, seemingly unscathed he just stood there and I typed as a message "Young fool...now you realize the power of the Dark Side"

Then I blew him away...hehe

I know that was long but I just rememebered it so I put it up...hehe

If you've ever been to the DU grotto, you know where Little Bit came from...

I was also called Hesh for a while, named after the shrill Sealab 2021 character...don't know where that came from, but I guess I liked it. but, i'm not called that anymore...

6. Thumper
My now deceased stepfather gave it to me because one of my legs is always moving. He was the first person in my life to give me a nickname!

He was an artist and drew me a pencil drawing of a cabin in the woods. Looking upon the cabin is a rabbit with an enlarged foot.....his way of saying Thumper!!

It was given to me buy a guy who was a president of an NHL team. I was friends with his Son, he used to call me Nutter because it goes with my last name, and the way I acted. One day he said, "IS THAT NUTTER?! I LIKE TEA AND I LIKE BUTTER, BUT YOU CAN TAKE EM BOTH CAUSE I'LL TAKE NUTTER!"
And..to this day

14. Butch
I know, I know.
It didn't have the same connotations back in 1941.
"Butch" was a common (temporary) nickname for boy babies then.
When the delivery nurse brought me into my mother a few minutes after I was born she said "Here's your little Butch" and god help me, it stuck. All my friends and family call me Butch, but I don't use it in more formal situations.

The bright side: I can spot a telemarketer instantly.
"Hello, Massey?" (and it's mass-ee, they usually pronounce it "macey" like the store)
Me: click

I have a distant counsin nicknamed "Booger".
I'm not making this up.
When he was an infant an aunt said "What a cute little booger" and 40 something years later....

There have been attempts--Rae, Raeny, but they all fizzled. I guess it's because Raenelle is easy and distinctive, so there's no need.

Merriweather - I was in 1776 and our school did a pre-show improv sowing circle in which I played the child of one of the sewers, and named merriweather.

23. Axeman...
Old Navy (not the store) nickname... townie guy I fooled around with ended up murdered, and the police questioned me. I told the cops the truth, but had to lie to my shipmates (told them he was an old college friend who moved out to San Diego and we ran into each other out in town, exchanged numbers and promised to hang out, but never did, and when they found him, he had my name and number in his wallet... this was mostly true, except he wasn't an old college chum). My imaginative shipmates created this elaborate story of how he was a stalker who was obsessed with me, followed me out here, and the only way that I could get away from him was to kill him. They found out about me because he had my name tatooed on his ass "Property of." So I became known as the axemurderer, or Axeman for short. (Also related to my job. As reactor operator, I was in charge of performing a reactor "SCRAM" which stands for Super Critical Reactor Axeman).

26. Stinzy.
My first name is Austin, which my high school buddies decided was too sophisticated-sounding, so they gave me a nickname that sounds like the name of your uncle who lives in Pittsburgh. "Stinzy." My friends still call me that.

32. I only really have one...
A friend of mine likes to call me "Spazz" because whenever she'd come into work, she'd knock on my office door and I'd jump. (I startle easily.) One day I got her back, though. I said, "I really *am* a spazz," and I brought up a bunch of information on Google about spastic quadriplegia and Cerebral Palsy (which I have). Was her face red!! Then I told her I didn't mind being called Spazz. :)

Spazz beats what another girl at work calls me -- "Stewtart," after the way some stupid person mis-spelled my name on an incoming fax to me...
