Screw the RIAA thread #2
Tonight's download suggestion is from a 'band' that
was probably my favorite in the late 80s and early 90s.

They are 'different', and those without adventurous
tastes in music might skip this one :) Also, if downbeat
is not your style, you probably won't like this band.

They call themselves Cocteau Twins, though gosh only knows
why. Cocteau Twins was a 3-person outfit from Scotland, making
their first recordings in 1980 or so. The best work came
from the mid 80s until the early 90s.

The vocalist in this band is easily my favorite female vocalist
of all time, Ms Liz Fraser. Technically, her voice is not
that great, but she is so expressive and convincing
(especially since most of their songs don't even have lyrics
per se, just phonemic sounds) and she sounds like a cross
between an angel and a goddess.

I suggest one of their more 'accessible' later tunes called
Road, River and Rail. Download it and if you like it, get
some more Cocteau Twins. If you like that, buy their CDs :)
