"They hate us because of our freedoms"
I would, too, if I was living on $200 a year in some oppressive regime. I can't believe the arrogance and stupidity of what I just read here:

http://www.popsci.com/popsci/auto/article/0,12543,460648,00.html

"...dB (as in decibel) drag racing is an obscure but growing international "sport" in which competitors go head-to-head for two or three seconds at a time—hence the name drag racing—to establish whose sound system is loudest. The 2002 record, set by a German team of secretive audio engineers, was 177.6 dB..."

I hate us now, too.

1. Right,
they hate us because we're so free, unlike other people in the world... free to do what?

3. They hate us..............
because we're bullying, arrogant, gluttons with a superiority complex that assumes everyone should be just like us. Our freedoms have little to do with it. It's out attitude. Or should I say it's our glorious leaders attitude. Regular everyday people of all countries seem to bond quite well without interference from our governments.

6. One HUNDRED AND SEVENTY DECIBELS?!?
How do they test that?
Sound at that volume would instantly fry both eardrums and maybe even cause damage to internal organs (depending on frequency)

For comparison, and F-18 using full afterburner on takeoff registers at around 140 dB.

177 dB would be about 1000 time louder! (remember the decibel scale is logarithmic)

Talk about WMD's!

(Just as an aside... what to they cool the driver coils with? The wattages reported in the story would tend to make any speaker drive coil that I know of to instantly flame out... if not vaporize! :) )
