1. Camera Obscura of course (given my sig line)
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 12:46 PM by Wat_Tyler
Tacky name, but it did have Meteora and Wilderland on it. Two of the great lost singles of the 1980's. Good use of 'cello, too.

2. I have to go with "The Impossible Space"
Definitely a departure for them. They were several years ahead of the whole "shoegazer" thing with this one.

3. Item.
I can't think of a more perfect mix of 154-era Wire, Leonard Cohen, and the Byrds.

"Time and a Penny for Your Good Eye" is possibly my favorite song of 1983.

4. I dunno.
It's a lot like 'Cattle and Cane' by the Go-Betweens. I'm just saying.

5. Do you own any of these?
It's been awhile. (If anything, it might get the worms out...)

Because they both suck kangaroo arse.

8. They toured too much in the late 80's
and it really shows on those records. Thank God they took '90 off to make Camera Obscura.

Nice touch!

10. Yeah. It was brave of them to go for a blank cover,
but then, it is a Peter Saville design, so they're in safe hands.

13. I suppose I should ask, then...
Do you have anything from The Federals? I'd like to find out if I really can't tell the difference, or David was just obnoxious about it.

But I do have Roger's solo effort, the so-bad-it's-good "Thee."

On edit: Not that I *like* contemporary Christian music, but I found it for a buck. It's gotta be worth at least $4.

12. Camera Obscura's the best, by like a mile.
But I don't have it. I have these:

Anyone who doesn't have either of these and is interested in swapping tapes, PM me.

15. Wow.
I don't remember what song's on what album (David just played a few incessantly) ... but I distinctly remember the Item cover. (There were some...interesting liner notes in that one, weren't there?)

I distinctly remember using it for weed clean-up, but, still. Wow.

16. "Item" - the best album about two band member's homosexual relationship!
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 02:44 PM by Fenris
Shaw and Ahern were shagging like madmen and no one knew!

18. "No one knew?"
I guess I can forgive you for not picking up on it, given your tender age. But I was 8, and I knew it was like a down-under version of Culture Club.

And now that I have visualized a "down-under version of Culture Club," I must scour my brain.

31. Ok, so I'll move my question about Arthur Poole over here
since this is where the Solar "action" as it were, is :)

Why, exactly did the 45 of 'Poole get pulled after only 500 pressed?

I mean, even for the times, they could've sold that in San Francisco alone - it was recorded right around the time of their 3 week stand at SoMas.
