Any other INTJs (Myers Briggs) out there?
I know we are only, like .5% of the population, but I thought that this particular forum might have a higher ratio of us per capita...

1. Nope I'm and ENFP here
Dr Seuss, Bill Clinton are some of my ENFP comrades!

I have a 10 month old son but I already can tell certain traits ... he will definitely be an E and a J... as far as the letters in between I am not too sure yet.

2. INTP
What makes you think there'd be more here?
Are they really only .5% of the pop? I know more ENTJ's (for obvious reasons)

a friend says to you: "hey, can i borrow a nickel?"

you apparently fail to respond ...

your friend repeats: "didn't you hear me ... i asked can i borrow a nickel?"

the problem was that after you first heard your friend ask to borrow a nickel, you began to wonder about the effect of eliminating small denominational coins from the money supply ...

INTP's seem to like to take a small detail about almost anything and use it as a vehicle for some great cosmic understanding ... does this description fit anyone else ??

5. Interesting question
INTP here. We're oddballs too :). Myers-Briggs was a sort of liberation for me - just reading how few a % of the population is "my type:" It also made me more tolerant of different cognitive styles.

My wife is a counseling psychologist and she walks around syaing, "She's a lfpt or sjt or LSMFT" or something.

It's pretty funny...

She's not serious about it - she pokes fun at herself and other psychologist.

10. Of all types...
INTJs are the rarest of all the combinations, followed closely by the ENTJs, if I remember correctly.

I thought DU might have a higher "share" than the general population b/c -NTJs are very conceptual, prefer philosophical consistency, and aren't "married" to any particular belief system or authority. We march to our own drum in a lot of ways. The very opposite of Freeperdom, if you will. So, I figured there might be more of us here.*shrug*

21. Myers Briggs Personality Types
You answer a bunch of questions about how you gather and process information and you test out on four continuums:

Introvert-------------->Extrovert

Intuitive---------------->Sensing

Thinking----------------->Feeling

Judging------------------>Percieving

Everyone is some combination of the letters above. Based on the work of Karl Jung.

Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 05:08 PM by KzooDem
Explained at the following link. You can even take a VERY abbreviated test to see what four letters of the alphabet YOU are! :-)

20. Portrait of an INTJ:
To outsiders, INTJs may appear to project an aura of "definiteness", of self-confidence. This self-confidence, sometimes mistaken for simple arrogance by the less decisive, is actually of a very specific rather than a general nature; its source lies in the specialized knowledge systems that most INTJs start building at an early age. When it comes to their own areas of expertise -- and INTJs can have several -- they will be able to tell you almost immediately whether or not they can help you, and if so, how. INTJs know what they know, and perhaps still more importantly, they know what they don't know.

-snip -

(I have the exact following reputation in my workplace!!)

Whatever system an INTJ happens to be working on is for them the equivalent of a moral cause to an INFJ; both perfectionism and disregard for authority may come into play, as INTJs can be unsparing of both themselves and the others on the project. Anyone considered to be "slacking," including superiors, will lose their respect -- and will generally be made aware of this ; INTJs have also been known to take it upon themselves to implement critical decisions without consulting their supervisors or co-workers.

23. True for me in the workplace
if you're the boss and you don't prove to me that you have a whiff of intelligience, you'll lose my respect in a hurry.

I also implement decisions without consulting anyone. :eyes: But most of the time that's ok. I just have to work in a job where I have a fair amount of intellectual freedom. Tightly defined hierarchies are not for me.

28. I'm like that too
When I am asked the question in job interviews: "What kind of superviser would you like to have?" I have been saying "A competent one."
I see my job as meeting certain goals, not obeying orders. I dislike working for morons, especially authoritarian morons who want to prevent me from doing my job (meeting my goals). I feel that the only people who should hold any kind of authority over me are people who are more competent. Luckily my boss is competent, but I get annoyed when he doesn't back me up, defering to people with different goals. We have rather authoritarian owners who I wouldn't call morons but they have different goals which do not make logical sense.
The part about making critical decisions reminded me of when I worked in the campus dining services dish room. We had a problem with absenteeism including the person who was suppose to be the superviser so I took it upon myself to impersonate a superviser. I didn't say that I was the superviser but I took charge and the other employees believed that I was the superviser. I also scheduled two other employees to come in to replace the people who never or rarely showed up. It took a while for the people higher up to catch on. On my next performance review, I was marked down for "Lack of communication with superiors." They thought that I should have told them about the situation rather than handeling it myself.

25. I test as INTJ
I've been a bit stressed lately though so am not always behaving like my true INTJ self, not that I have to adhere to any category. I think that we are vunerable when we start feeling like we aren't living up to our own standards.

26. I hear ya....
I do not have the human or the technical resources to expertly administer the side of the business I work for the way it SHOULD BE. Instead we're always a day late and a dollar short and it DRIVES ME NUTS.

My partner keeps telling me I should quit expecting to paint the Mona Lisa when all they have given me to work with is a fucking box of crayons (and they aren't even Crayola!).

Oh, the humanity....

35. you got it right ...
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 09:09 PM by welshTerrier2
there are very few "S" people on DU ... DU is packed with "N's" ... my understanding is that "S" indicates an acceptance of traditions ... "S" indicates a propensity to accept things at face value ... "S" indicates a tendency to understand things literally ... at least these are my understandings of what the "S" means ...

this is not a very common trait for those who "question authority" and are generally more disposed to define right and wrong in their own ways ... even the term "underground" implies a non-traditional approach to dealing with politics ... and for those of us on the left, especially the far left, we rarely trust those with "traditional" power and authority ...

anyway, I mostly just wanted to respond with a big old "Welcome to DU, njdemocrat106 !!!"
