Maybe it would be unwise to go without a towel, even when not hitchhiking.

Even got an adapter for the plugs to recharge the electrical one.
Good call.

14. Is an adapter enough? I thought y'all were on a different current |
|
which would call for a transformer, unless I'm being a total idiot again (which I never rule out).

I've tried the procedure before. Toothbrush/Camera/DVD Player/Cell Phone - they all are able to take 110v @ 60HZ, and 230V @ 50 Hz. A mechanic adapter is enough.
Good thinking.

I do not own any flags (OK; one GDR flag I found in the cellar while moving in) and I sure won't be waving any.
And sorry: Poland on a personal basis (i.e. the people) is cool, but on basis of their European/Foreign Policy I'm rather in a moot to ignore the country of my ancestors for some time.

I tried to bring bottled beer once - I won't repeat it (the crown caps did not like the low-pressure enviroment).
I might try to bring a bottle using a ziploc bag, but how would I get it to you?
And don't get me started on Bavaria. Think Texas- only with Lederhosen, better beer and without Tex-Mex food.

shoes that are easy to take off for the security check at the airport before the flight home.
I always forget my comb, my hairbrush or both. Also, put your tickets someplace you can't conceivably forget them or you'll drive yourself crazy.

I've considered taking better shoes, but it would be shame to use them traveling. Especially as I'll be walking a lot.
So it will be the full security routine. Besides, it is the same in Europe: the security for US-bound flights is actually run by Americans.

now throw out 4 pairs of shoes and add 6 pairs of underwear - ditch the electric toothbrush...WTF? ATM/credit card is about all you really need anymore, barring prescription meds and or eyewear.

It always takes me like 20 minutes to understand an American ATM. While it is great that my card works at all, at some banks even free of charge, the American banking concepts translate poorly to European ones. For instance we do not have checks any more.

Liquid soap, toothpaste, shampoo... It's a lot more expensive stateside (even with the Euro as it is), but I would have to carry it.

No, I see enough gloom here, so I'm used to it.
I do not plan to leave the blue-states, so do not fear for my sanity. (the European idiot isn't much different from his American counterpart. Neither in frequency, nor in persuasion).
