I tried posting this in GDC2004; but it didn't last five minutes before it was on page 2. So I'll give it a whirl here.
I want to send this letter to my local paper. Please offer your comments and suggestions. Maybe I'll heed them, maybe I won't; but I'd like your opinions either way. Thanks!

While Senator Kerry clearly won Thursday night’s debate, credit must be given President Bush where it is due. George W. Bush is correct that bilateral negotiations with North Korea would be ineffective...with him at the helm. Never in the history of this country has a president’s foreign policy been such a debacle.

Our diplomatic ties with our European allies are, at best, hanging by a thread; and at worst, in shambles. We cannot hope to secure their aid in cleaning up the mess we've made of Iraq with Bush in office. Indeed, his vigilante-style military action there has spread our own forces so thin that the stage has been set for unimpeded genocide in Darfur, a return of the Taliban in Afghanistan, and continued attacks on the troops in Iraq as fundamentalist Muslims swarm the under-protected borders of that country.

What nation can we afford to offend next? How much longer can our nation withstand the mind-boggling cost of the Iraq war with no diplomatic relief in sight? Certainly not four more years.

John Kerry’s speech and his website illustrate his well-thought plan of action toward the restoration of healthy foreign alliances. Now more than ever, America’s leader needs to be a man who can be decisive without being divisive. Thursday night, it was plain that Senator Kerry fits the bill perfectly.
