http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/lifestyle/138632_metrosexual09.htmlThe Freepers ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/979054/posts) had a field day with this (sorry, I promise I will soon get over this Freeper kick - hopefully it's only today) Did you catch that "guy" talking about his mini-vacation to get a facial? I could make a "facial" joke, but this is a respectable forum so I will refrain. Hell, my lovely wife is more of a man than these twisted little homo-lites.
...
I see young heterosexual male trends over the past decade (like the huge growth of body building and tattoos) as a backlash to the cultural feminization of men. Look at gangsta rap and hip hop, urban "music" making a profane religion of belittling the feminine and challenging its young male listeners to be MEN in the most belligerent "bitch-slapping" women-hating ways they can conjure. Can't say freeper's don't have a sense of humour. Moisterizer?!?
That's what worm guts are for.

My site-assigned password there is hysterical. I'd share it, but I'd like to keep my "Freep" ID away from the true Freepers.

Someone smarter than me should do an anthropological study on them. :P
One of my exes was a metro, though he was unfamiliar with the term--but he was also a closet case bi. I thought it was all very amusing, but then I'm a girl fag myself (and I have a thing for drag kings). :) Online I usually have to tell people my gender and then they never believe me...
"The cultural feminization of men" indeed. I find the metro trend to be heartening in some ways, because it's showing that people are getting less hung up on labels and feel free to express themselves and do what they want without fear. OTOH it bothers me because it's subconciously reinforcing the tired old stereotype that being gay necessarily means you're a style queen and are rich enough to afford $500 shoes and $1000 spa trips. (I'm a fan of Queer Eye, but this is one thing that bugs me about the show). All the queers I know are working/middle class and don't feel very represented in all this.
And I'm rambling.

of all those well-groomed, opera-loving, carrot cake baking, moisterizing mansteaks.
Some of those guys sound really great. ;-)
Oh honey, it's jamming the Gaydar! - LMAO!
edit: This topic came up recently, and to quote another poster (cannot remember who): "I prefer the term evolved."

a man should be paying attention to his grooming, how he dresses, his manners, how clean his apartment is, any of that. We all know a RE-YULL MAY-UNN lives in squalor, smells of BO, is covered with rank hair, has dandruff, and optigoop crusted in the corners of his eyes. He owns big dogs that shit in his house, he has vehicles up on blocks in the yard, he washes his hair, if at all, with bar soap, and uses one brush for the four critical areas - asshole, armpits, teeth, and hair.
What on earth do they think is wrong with men paying attention to their grooming? I'm all for it - the fewer men with hair coming out of their nostrils, the happier I'll be.
