This is the first time I'm typing a message on DU with a Macintosh system. Well, ok it is my normal Windows XP machine, but with the Basilisk JIT emulator running MacOS 8.1 on it, and Netscape Navigator 4.08. Soon enough I hope to have MacOS X running on my machine as well with Pear PC. Once I get that working I'll have, hmmm lets see, 3 live CD OS's, that includes WinXP(LiveCD version), Syllabus<--used to be Atheos, and PHLAK (Professional Hacker's Linux Assault Kit). LiveCD OSes don't require a hard drive, just a bootable CD ROM drive. I also have MenuetOS, a live floppy OS, which is pretty cool. As far as "Normal" OSes, I have Windows XP, Windows 98, BeOS, and RedHat Linux. As far as emulated OSes, I have Dosbox, MacOS 8.1, as well as AmigaOS.
So anyone think I'm geeky enough? :)

For the NEW AMIGAS! Yepper, they really are out there, running AmigaOS 4.0. I have it on very, very good advisement that 4.0 is a wonderful thing, worthy of all to be received.

6. You should check out BeOS... |
|
Its as powerful as Linux, as easy to use as a Mac, the downsides is hardware compatibility, though drivers are easy to find, and the fact that the company is out of business. Though I will say there are many people working on the successors to BeOS, including freeware Haiku and commercial Zeta. I will say it is also the fastest OS ever made, try to run 10 movie files at once, or up to 20 mp3's, I did this with NO slowdowns, and that was on my old Pentium 3 500Mhz!
Haiku is at www.haiku-os.org
Zeta is at www.yellowtab.com
Check out the free version of BeOS on www.bebits.com or www.bezip.de

8. DosBox takes care of that... |
|
though I was thinking about using Bochs and also VMware. Haven't yet though. easy enough to put MsDos 6.22 on Bochs if I ever decide too.
