Leko and Kramnik draw game six of world championship match
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 10:37 AM by Jack Rabbit
World chess champion Vladimir Kramnik and Hungarian challenger Peter Leko drew game six of their match for the world title moments ago in the resort town of Brissago, Switzerland.

The score of the match is level at 3 points apiece.

Kramnik, playing White, agreed to Leko's offer of a draw on his 21st move. Most observers were surprised at Leko's offer since he came out of the opening in a slightly better position.

It was the fourth draw of the match. Each player has one win. The winner of the scheduled 14-game match will be the first player to obtain 7 1/2 points with victories counting as one point each and draws half a point each. Kramnik will retain the title in the event of a 7-7 tie.

The seventh game is scheduled for Tuesday at 3 pm Swiss time (6 am PDT). Leko will have White.
