in the San Diego Union Trib... It's in the Sunday 'Arts' section, since it was a comment on the article about CBS news 'forgery' bruhaha.

Dear Mr. Laurence;

By your logic, if Dan Rather must resign to "restore integrity to CBS", then also President George W. Bush must also resign to restore dignity to the office of the Presidency. If newscasters were forced out for making false statements on the air, none would be working today. Where is the outrage over newsmen who pushed the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth's lies? It appears that lying in G. W. Bush's favor is excused. Dan Rather apoligized for using forged documents, but the rest of the story still stands. That you did not mention that makes your column misleading; are you going to apologize?
