Who Here Is Guilty of Procrastination?
I am! *groan* I just finished a two-page paper, and it took me an hour to do. I could've done it hours earlier, like in the afternoon, but I was too busy reading my Marx-Engels reader. Then I got caught up in "Extreme Home Makeover" then "Jack and Bobby" and got into AIM conversations with five friends. Before I knew it, it was four a.m. and I hadn't finished the paper.

So I sat down, and finished the paper. Why, why, must I procrastinate?

2. Don't feel too bad slinkerwink
I procrastinate also. I found a book that was supposed to help a person overcome this tendency. I started to read it and by the time I got to the second chapter I was so depressed I felt like killing myself. I then threw the book away and never looked back.

As long as you get done what you need to get done consider yourself successful...even tho you have to do it at odd hours, that's what odd hours are for.

10. I do most of my work at night because I can't concentrate in the day
When it's sunny outside and it looks so nice.....I'd rather go rowing than study.

3. Slink, I've found that I actually do my best work when I procrastinate...
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 04:24 AM by rezmutt
I was a world-class procrastinator in college, and it's continued into my professional life for years.

I've had numerous writing projects -- copy that was going to print for public programs, etc., and the scenario has always been that I do everything under the sun except buckle down and get to writing. I rarely start a project before, say, midnight, and by 2:00 a.m. I'm really humming. I've done some of my best work in the wee hours, when I was under the gun. I don't know if it's adrenaline, or if I simply have no wiggle-room left in terms of time, but I seem to really get traction with my ideas when I'm under the gun.

The major fallout of all this is the self-induced stress and irretrievably lost sleep. :( I hear you, though, and I I totally understand -- I'm guilty of a lifetime of proscrastination!

7. yeah, I remember during finals week, I'd pull three all-nighters in a row
writing 15 page papers nonstop......that was brutal.

9. I find myself unable to concentrate on a task unless I procrastinate
My mind begins to wander after only a minute or so when I sit down to do something like write a paper or even think about it if it's not due in a short period of time.

On top of that, I often get frustrated and quit over slight imperfections.

11. Dissonance?
How did you cope with the cognitive dissonance created between Marx and Extreme Capitalist Makeover?
