It's been a great ME weekend.
1. I got carded at the Tiger game (I'm 48 today). And, when my buddy Mike B said Tanisha (the gal who carded me) must not have gotten a good look at my face, I replied I have a pretty face -- and Tanisha agreed with me.
2. Central Michigan (Chip-POOOOO-Wah!!!) beat Kent State at football. I think it was our first MAC victory of the 21st Century.
3. We got cable TV in here for the first time in four years.
4. Chip (my fundamentalist Christian buddy/former sports writing colleague who produces the FUNDAY Radio program for our annual party) came into town from Greenville (say 80 miles from here). I'm aware that he's going to still vote for Dopey because -- well, because. Anyhow, as he was leaving I told him "Don't forget to forget to vote." He thought it was a pretty good line. You can use it with your Repug-leaning friends if you want.
5. On our run to the supermarket yesterday, we did a count of K/E and B/C yard signs. Kerry/Edwards won 22-2 (and one of the B/C signs was posted right next to a K/E one on the same lawn).
6. Polly baked me a cake. It's a damned fine cake, too.
And I'm not even officially 48 until 5:31 pm (the only one of the five sibs to be born at a decent hour). Things can only get better.

Susan Sarandon and Charlton Heston have birthdays today, too. It would probably be the only thing, other than acting, the two have in common. It's Buster Keaton's birthday, too.

My (much older) sister Mary called me today and ragged on me about how all the sibs are "going to get" me next year on my 50th birthday. Too bad for Mary that today is my 48th b'day -- but she turns 50 next January 5. Thanks for the reminder, sis.
