2 Questions: Is SNL finally taking a side, and...
what was the lobster analogy "carville" made the other night?

The first question I pose because the neutered SNL, a show that barely referenced Fatass's OxyContin scandal last year (one lame joke on Update) and has barely critiqued * for four years (even Ferrell's great impersonation was toothlessly written) really seemed to have made their choice this summer. The debate parody was ruthless ("...hard work!...I came in one Sunday..."), the Kerry parody was more instructive than anything else (who knew Affleck could do a good Carville?), and did you hear that response that "Clinton" got?!

Secondly, was trying to relay the Carville bit to a friend and flubbed the lobster joke. Anyone?

God do I want Tina Fey (head writer and probable explanation for this new tone).

(My favorite bit, outside of Gandolfini, was the subheads in the swiftvets parody: "Booked a flight to Vietnam." "Saw Platoon."

LOL

1. I think they see the writing on the wall
You criticize Bush heavily these last 4 years, you can kiss half your audience goodbye. Unfortunately, that's the way it's been. But now there's an obvious change in the wings and they can do what they want. It's too bad SNL is f'ing horrible now - it's another dark age like during the 80's.

2. But oh, when they were good....
The early 90s was a true SNL revival... Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Ellen Cleghorn... late 90s also had some highlights, including Will Ferrel, Molly Shannon...

Definitely a Dark Age now, though.
