'Psycho' Star Janet Leigh Dies at 77
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hollywood movie star Janet Leigh, best known as the knife attack victim in Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho," has died at the age of 77, CNN reported on Monday.

"Janet Leigh died peacefully in her home Sunday afternoon," Heidi Schaeffer, a spokeswoman for Leigh's daughter, actress Jamie Lee Curtis, was quoted as saying.

Leigh died in her Beverly Hills home. Daughters Jamie Lee and Kelly Curtis and her fourth husband, Robert Brandt, were at the home, Schaeffer said.

Leigh had been battling vasculitis -- an inflammation of the blood vessels -- for a year, she said.

2. Sorry....
I like her daughter, Jamie Lee. Her Mom was a glamorous actress but Jamie is more down to earth. Of course, Tony Curtis was always so handsome.

6. I'm very sorry to hear this. I worked on a TV special that
Ms. Leigh was a part of and we had a lot of fun with her. She was
very down to earth, very funny and very nice. This reminds me of a story from that show which was "Happy Birthday Hollywood"; Janet was part of a group of elderly women being recognized for their part in Hollywood and they showed closeups of each and what they had done. Arhlene Dahl, who is a little haughty, was up for her closeup and Debbie Reynolds said "Ok, honey, show them what you got. Get those tits up and hold them there". God, we all laughed our heads off. Janet will indeed be missed. RIP, Ms. Leigh.

9. She often autographed this particular photo with the inscription...
"Screamingly yours, Janet Leigh." Seriously.

As her ex-husband Tony Curtis said recently, "She's a class act."

12. I agree
I looked at the post with that pic and I did not mean it smart assy-I just didn't know what to say. even though she was 77, I guess I never thought of her as that old and the news shocked me. she had my mom's look about her and they were the same age.

8. I was benoaning to my co-workers how aeful it was that she
didn't win the Oscar for "Psycho," and wondering what lousy, forgotten film and actress won for it.

Man, that was a TOUGH call that year...

The winner was Shirley Jones for "Elmer Gantry," another stellar performance.

Glad I wasn't voting that year.

15. Local girl and University of the Pacific Graduate

I believe she was discovered at a Sierra Nevada ski resort. She is revered in Stockton. But I think she was born and raised on an outlying ranch nearby. Jamie Lee attended UOP for a hot minute. If anyone knows her ask her if she remembers a green haired swimmer named Jeff. A friend of mine's brother. She use to gossip about Jamie all the time. Wild Child.

17. she was the first actress I 'discovered' while reading movie magazines
when I was in 5-6th grade. I followed the Tony Curtiss-Janet Leigh romance as depicted in those magazines 'religiously'.
