7. Again with the generalizations. When have you ever been there and |
|
whom do you know who lives here? I can tell you after living 25 years in Houston that there is an acceptance there of people of all shapes, colors, religions, and nationalities that (again I don't really know because I have only lived in Texas)I do not hear about in other parts of the US. Maybe it is our part our Southern good manners and part our being a port/international city. Anyway, get a prospective that is not faux-Texas bush related and you might see something in a different way.

... explain Tom DeLay to me, and how he fits into that acceptance thing you mentioned. *smile*
(And, yes, I'm a native Texan.)

10. Actually, I do not live in Houston at this time. Were you here when that |
|
nut first ran for office? No one took him seriously. He was so off the wall. I was talking to my rep the other day about this and he said that when he (Delay) came to Congress it was the same. No one took him seriously because he was such a nut. Yet there he is. I cannot now or then explain how a person like him gets to a position of such power. My rep. says that it because he has so much right wing and goofy religious nuts and their money behind him (and believe me that money did not all come from Texans)that he kept trying and trying until he was able to take office. This is the kind of thing that makes me want to run for the hills.

... I emailed his office, saying he was the reason I wouldn't admit to anyone that I came from Texas... no one likes to be on the receiving end of guilt by association. *smile*
But, some places in Texas are reasonably sane (and there are plenty of places that are not). I believe it was Molly Ivins who repeated a remark made by a former lieutenant governor on the subject: {Referring to the Texas Legislature} "If you think these people are crazy, you should see some of their constituents." :P
Cheers.

12. Before the present group of carpetbaggers and friends, I was always |
|
very proud and happy to stand up and say that my family has been here for about 170 years. (I don't think Delay is a Texas born and bred but he seems to fit the bill for many of the nut cases here. More to our shame.) Still proud but always having to explain. Wherever you are now, blessings and peace.

But the Right Wing always makes fun of California and the people in it. So we have to make fun of Texas.

Sorry to have offended yo but The right Wing and Repbulicans constantly calls California a crazy State and picks on it so we have to do the same to Texas since that is the Right Wing Conservative Republican state of America.

13. I heard a little about this when I first tuned into CNN earlier |
|
and I wondered how this could possibly have happened. Aaron Brown quoted the guy saying he could feel himself knocking into other boxes while traveling along a conveyor belt. I thought it sounded pretty unbelievable, as well. Thanks for posting the real story!:-)
