Garden State Soundtrack... What a breath of fresh air. |
I have been completely bored with music for the last 6 months or so. I finally picked up the GS soundtrack a few days ago after seeing the film (which I love). I love absolutely every song on it. It is so relaxing and melodic and it puts me into a good mood every time I jump into the car. Especially the two tracks by the Shins, who I have never heard of before this CD. I will definitely have to listen to some of their stuff. Go pick it up.

1. Does it have "Jersey Girl" by Tom Waits on it? |
If not, that's a clearly dreadfully missed opportunity.

3. You should check out the "Wicker Park" Soundtrack too.... |
If you liked the Garden State S/T. It has The Shins, Death Cab for Cutie, a bunch of other really great songs.

4. Go buy both of their albums now. |
If you only have the spare $ for one, pick up their first (Oh, Inverted World).
The Shins are the best American band of the 21st century so far.

5. "New Slang" might be a perfect song. |
At least for certain moods.

7. "New Slang" is haunting. That's the only word for it: haunting. |
I really need to go and get their albums. Just based on that one song, they're terrific!

8. I've heard good things about the movie -- have you seen it? |
Is it any good, outside of the soundtrack?

Its a pretty standard "Guy gets lost from real world, finds a girl who opens his eyes again"-type film but it has great humor and great acting. The starring actor, the guy from Scrubs (i don't know his name), also wrote and directed it. Natalie Portman is in it and she is very good except for the curly hair :). Don't go in expecting something monumentally different, like Lost In Translation, you'll be a bit disappointed. Just go in expecting to see a funny little story and just sit back and experience it. You'll really appreciate the film a whole lot more. Also, this is a perfect date movie. My girlfriend loved it more than I did.
