Lost and Found alert in East San Diego County...

Found early Sunday morning - one ferret.

I've put out fliers in a quarter mile radius and hit all the local pet stores and vets. Apparently, a couple weeks ago, a distraught woman supposedly put out "lost pet" fliers in the neighborhood for one, so I'm hoping to re-unite the two. If anyone can think of anything else to help - especially you ferret folks who play in newsgroups and message boards, and may have heard something from someone who apparently moved recently and "lost her baby" during the transition.

I'm saving gender and descriptions to be able verify ownership from anyone who calls/pms/e-mails us, but it's just a sweet cutiepie that's a bit leery of aggressive dogs (Shari is just sooo jealous) and not at all concerned about cats, who are pretty much ignoring it. Since Shari is jealous, we definitely can't keep it.

If we don't hear anything in two/three weeks, we'll probably have to "contact the underground" to find a home for it.
The Gropinator has decided that the most recent bill to legalize ferrets in California was "too bureaucratic" with all the fees and regulations (like they don't already do the same thing with dogs...) and shot it down, as well as ending the grace period that kept ferrets somewhat legal and safe from being confiscated and put down.
He wouldn't even extend the grace period while the backers come up with a better "regulatory" system to be able to pass the Department of Fish and Game's concerns. Even feral dogs and cats get more of a break than ferrets do.
