Do you have to register to vote for every election?
I noticed that my voters registration card has the date 2/6/04 on it. Does that mean that it's expired or is that the date it was issued on?

1. No
They usually send you a new voter registration card each year. The only time you would need to re-register is if you moved. Even if it is just to a house on the next street, you need to register with your new address.

It may vary from state to state, I don't really know.

EDIT: Call your county courthouse, and ask. We don't want to miss a single Kerry vote.

4. I think if you DON'T vote...
...if you don't vote for a number of years, you might also drop off the voter rolls. That might be what the 2006 date means... if you don't vote by then, you might be dropped.

5. Not enough information given... it is a state by state thing
and in some places, counties regulate it.

try googling your state and voter laws or something like that

6. What state are you in, Bushneedstogo?

.
I can probably look up the rule on that with your state's Board of Elections online.

In my state, NC, you only have to register once to be registered, but if you move to another address, you have to update your registration to the new address so you will be able to vote in the new correct precinct.

Once I moved right before the election, but still in my same city, and just voted over at my old precinct, then later I updated my registration to the new address and on the NEXT election, I voted at my new precinct.

How stupid can I be? I just got excited about not being able to vote because this is the last night that we can register.
