I found a cell phone on the street, how do I found the owner?
I found it on the parking lot near my car. It has quite a lot of numbers in it. I want to return it to the owner but how do I find whom it belongs to?

I am waiting for several hours now for the owner to call his own number but no luck yet.

Most of the names in its phone book are doctors. So the owner might be a doctor or might be someone having health problems.

Any suggestions?

1. Call the company that made the phone.. Maybe they can tell whose it is
by the registration number..

Or randomly call a saved number, and tell them you have found this phone.. Maybe the person has a landline too:)

2. Call one of the names
and see if they know who would have their name in their address book.

3. On your own phone, start dialing numbers and ask...
...the person on the other end if anyone they know has just lost their cellphone. Leave your contact number and keep calling different ones and asking until either you've found someone or you've exhausted numbers.

Unless you can figure out what company is providing the phone service, in which case they might be able to help. The cell number of this cellphone should be somewhere in its memory for you to see and provide the phone company.

4. Call The Service Provider
For instance, if it's Cingular, call them. When you turn the phone on, the number will show up. Tell them the phone number. They will know who they send the bill too. Then, they can notify the owner. Likely, you can send the phone to them, and they can arrange return. Then, you won't have to worry about it.

5. Thanks. The owner just called
Me: Hello

Him: Hello, I've lost my cell phone and I see you have found it.

Me: Yep. Why didn't you call earlier?

Him: I just found out. Can we meet, so I can get it back?

Me: Sure, no problem.

I am glad the phone found its owner :)

6. you coulda called your own number from the phone, if you have caller ID
sometimes the name shows up

BUT...the owner did the best thing to track it down (it's always worked for me when I've lost mine)
