NEVER, NEVER say Kitty Kelley can't hold her own. Last week at a book signing in Georgetown, Kitty dealt cleverly with 10 protesters outside the store. She went out, spoke to them, and "it ended amicably when everybody agreed the First Amendment was a good thing."

But one guy separated from his friends and confronted her: "Isn't it true you had an affair with President Clinton, plus a lesbian relationship with Barney Frank's sister?"

Without missing a beat, her famous smile wickedly wide, Kitty replied, "All that and a partridge in a pear tree!"

This woman has style, no matter what you think of her work. I tend to like a lot of it.

Reminds me of Kerry's "I've flip flopped, flop flipped" comment on Daily Show. Responding in that way disarms the accuser - denial (even of wholly fabricated claims) only makes people wonder if it's true.
