Noob to Mac OS needs help |
|
I'm trying to install Firefox and don't know what to do next after the gzip file has downloaded and extracted itself. My question is about installing programs on the Mac.
Do I just drag whats inside the mounted Firefox icon to the Desktop ? I tried to do that and then double click on the Firefox icon to start the program but it would not run. Right now, to get it to work, I clicked on the icon thats looks like a hard drive with "Firefox" and then double clicked on the icon inside.
any help will greatly be appreciated
:)

1. Installing downloads on Mac |
|
Usually, after your download has extracted, you are left with the installer on your desktop. Double click the installer and follow the directions. Sometimes, the installer will tell you to drag and drop the application icon on to your hard drive icon and that will install the application. Other than that, Mac OS usually does all the work for you. I hope this helps.

2. yep, there generally isn't an installer |
|
usually you just drag the program's icon wherever you want it to live (most people choose the "Applications" folder)
uninstall? what's that? you just drag it to the trash!
