does anyone know the name of this movie?

it came out several yrs. ago. many stars were in it. it was a murder/comedy. took place in a big old Victorian house. Everyone invited to dinner. a murder takes place and it goes on from there. (I only saw the TV ads for it)

15. It's a great movie but...
...be forewarned that it's not really a murder mystery. A murder does take place fairly late in the movie but the movie is more of a character study as well as a comparing and contrasting of the lives of the upper class and the servants.

18. That was my guess, also....
Gosford Park. One of my favorite movies a few years ago. (I saw it in the theater twice and twice on DVD.) It's certainly not for everybody, but it really was a great film.

8. "Murder by Death"?
That's about 25-30 years old. Peter Sellers, Truman Capote, others.

Or "Clue" which is newer with MArtin Mull, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, etc.

11. Gosford Park came out only 2 years ago didn't it?
It sounds more like Clue to me, which is "several" years old, as is Murder by Death..

12. The sketchy description sounds like "Murder by Death"
Peter Falk, Alec Guiness and others. I enjoyed it.

17. Did you see it when it first came out at the theater?
If so, do you remember the short film that proceeded it? It was about a woman getting off on the voice of her tennis ball launcher. I never got the joke at the time, as I was about 12, and no one would explain it to me and my friends. We asked everyone's moms, they all said "You'll get it in a few years". We asked one friend's older sister "Mom would kill me if I told you guys".

They never show the short before the movie on cable. I'm just curious if anyone else remembers it.

13. IMDB info on Gosford Park.
And you can discuss it, review it, etc.

One of the few Altman films I have not seen.
