Why does mal-wart say they sell things for less?
Today I was comparing air purifiers from those at Target Greatland.

Target Greatland (TG) had the same models as Wal-Mart (MW) for the SAME prices.

TG also had brands and room sizes that MW did not.

As with computer software and DVDs, I almost always see no difference, big savings, or any tangible savings. (3 cents is NOT tangible in the real world.)

Now if you go to sams club, pay $35 for an annual card, you can spend $5 for 500,000 ounces of Miracle Whip that'll expire in two weeks. Maybe that's what they mean by savings?

2. I'll do you one better
My husband is diabetic, and has to eat special foods. Splenda is CHEAPER at the local mom&pop pharmacy than at Wal-Mart. And the pharmacist is a great guy, always boosting the town, helping to remove signs of blight, etc. etc. Guess where we get all our prescriptions.

4. Home Depot has been consistently lower with lawn & garden prices.
For example, I use a lot of mulch and Home Depot sells cypress mulch for $1.99 a bag, the same brand that Wal-Mart sell at their
"everyday low price" of $2.67

HD even "hosted" a * "discussion on the economy back in December 2003:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/12/20031205-4.html
President Bush Discusses the Economy at the Home Depot in Maryland
Remarks by the President in a Conversation on the Economy with Employers and Employees
The Home Depot
Halethorpe, Maryland
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you, all. I left my credit card at home. (Laughter.) Thanks for having me. I'm honored to be here at a great company. I really appreciate the spirit of the company; I appreciate the fact that this company cares about the people who work here. And that's really what we're here to talk about, is people working and realizing their dream. I want people working in the country.

10. Aren't most of those in big business.
The neoCons have reversed much of the trust busting that old time Republican Teddy Roosevelt promoted. Home Depot, Lowe's, and their ilk are ruining small business.

9. Loss Leaders
they sell certain shit at a loss to suck you in-then market the regularly priced and over-priced bullshit marketed in a way that'll make you pick it up before you leave. They make you walk past loads of high-priced shit to get to the cheaper shit.
Look at the area around the cash register-all the "oh yeah! I need that" stuff.

You have to work in a selling atmosphere to be conscious of this tricky shit
