3. that is a myth
Pattern recognition being artifically imposed.

Every time a few celebrities die, these threads come crawling out of the woodwork.

But why do I bother to reason?

I thought liberals were too smart for this crap.

9. I agree. Its just a myth.
Both of these people had illnesses although I did not know that Janet Leigh had a medical condition and was as sick as she was. But the point is they were both not in good health and elderly. Its a sad loss--both of them--- but a coincidence. Now, if perfectly healthy celebrities started dying in freak accidents in groups of 3's then I'd believe in this superstition.

13. When was the last time...

3 famous people died within a couple of days within each other? When? Sure, I believe we try to force patterns where there may be none. I just can't remember the last time a famous cultural pop icon dropped without being followed by a couple others.

17. again, see post #6
And truly, it is a gross insult to the non-famous to think their deaths have less cosmic importance. But Post #6 mocks the whole threes notion by listing 4 consecutive deaths.

Also consider one person's famous person is another 'who the fuck was that?' And on and on, I can demolish such bullshit with sweet reason.

Jesus Fuck, I think the cult of fame is a pox on America.

4. Pacemaker ...
Let's guess.

Perhaps someone with a pacemaker, under a lot of stress tonight, over-weight, sour disposition ...

That could be your third person.

7. EXACTLY!
I love shattering myths. And it belittles the deaths of people who did not achieve the disease of "fame". All deaths are equal. Celebrities do NOT get special cosmic treatment!

11. see post #6
And... consider my reply above about how insulting this is to the mass of ordinary folks who die every day and leave their loved ones behind.

I liked Rodney, Leigh, and Cooper too (I'm indifferent to Avedon), but the point is, death is death, not a game of dice.

Mercury astronaut Cooper, dies

Family, friends recall 77-year-old's passion for space, upbeat attitude

BY JOHN KELLY
FLORIDA TODAY

CAPE CANAVERAL -- Gordon Cooper, the youngest of the original Mercury 7 astronauts who risked their lives to blaze the trail that led to America's victory in the race to put men on the moon, died Monday.

The fun-loving Air Force test pilot flew the last Mercury mission in 1963 and commanded the eight-day Gemini 5 mission that, when it happened in 1965, was the longest a human had flown in space.

Cooper, 77, suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Ventura, Calif.
