Otherwise, well, it never looks good to send in a LTTE that makes you look less intelligent just because of bad grammer and syntax, and occasional misuse of words, etc. Overall, a good letter, and spells outnicelty the stupidity of the "flip-flop" bullshit and the "voted to deny our troops what they needed" bullshit.
So, here ya go:
Re: The $87 billion question and John Kerry’s “vote for war”.
Of the string of lies spewing from Bush and Cheney, the two issues which seem to be repeated ad nausea are the $87 billion and John Kerry’s voting for the authority to go to war.
First, the issue of Kerry being for the war then against it. I understand it’s difficult to ask a Bush supporter to take a few minutes to actually read the Iraqi War Resolution which resolution is what Kerry has consistently supported. They might be in for a revelation. This authority had to be passed in order to back the weapons inspectors. This resolution also allowed the president decision-making powers to go to war ONLY if certain conditions were met. Namely, the president had to build a true coalition, diplomacy had to be proven to be no longer an option, and most importantly, going to war could only be the last resort. The president, of course, completely betrayed these conditions and went to war carelessly at the expense of our troops and our tax dollars.
John Kerry gave the keys to the president; but he never told him to crash the car. Nowhere in the resolution or in the section which outlines the authority for war is authority given to “Go To War No Matter What.”
Next is the $87 billion issue, which the Republicans love to distort. There were TWO bills, not just one. The first bill stated that repealing the tax cuts for those earning over $400,000 would fund the $87 billion. The money would be converted to loans rather than just carelessly tacked onto the deficit and onto the backs of taxpayers. John Kerry supported this bill. PRESIDENT BUSH THREATENED TO VETO THIS BILL IF IT PASSED THROUGH CONGRESS. The Republican-controlled congress arranged it so that the bill failed by a vote of 57-42.
The second bill, which Kerry voted against, simply tacked the money onto the deficit. Kerry voted against this measure correctly knowing that this president’s word to do anything he said he would do could not be trusted {Rabrrrrrr note: that sentence is really odd, and I'm not sure what you are trying to say}. It turns out Kerry was correct. Did our troops receive the funding the president promised? What, exactly, happened to the money that was promised to the troops?
This president should be ashamed. I am appalled watching him stammer on about how he supports the troops when nothing could be further from the truth. He continues to claim Iraq and Al-Queda were linked when in fact that is an outright lie.
Well, actually, there is a link: in 1990 Bin Laden said “I want to fight against Saddam {who is?} an infidel. I want to establish a guerrilla war against Iraq.”
Mission Accomplished, Mr. President. Bin Laden could not be happier with your policies. Saddam is out of power and Iraq is on its way to becoming an Islamic Republic given that the Iraqi Governing Council wishes to pass Sharia Law, and Americans soldiers are dying by the day.
