I need a drink or three... :(
I intensely dislike the freeping rightwingnut brownshirt nazis who demand everyone march in lockstep. NO ONE is allowed to express opinions of their own if they deviate in any way.

Which is why I've always been a Dee. But lately there seems to be an awful lot of progressives slamming any other progressives who dare post any opinions out of lockstep.

So I'm depressed. :(

Are we really no different than those lousy little brownshirt rightwingnuts???

Yes, we prefer sticking to FACTS, so that's a huge difference.

But to slam other progressives for their own honest opinions that aren't 110% supportive of K/E??? So if we should disagree in any way with anything K or E says or does, we should "JUST SHUT UP!"??? Or should we just LIE like the media-whores???

I thought I belonged to a Party that embraced and welcomed all opinions. A Party that refused the lockstep lifestyle.

I'm feeling so sad... :(

2. Get used to it.
There's a cult of people here who will apologize for anything Kerry or Edwards says or does. To be critical of any of their statements, policy positions or general characteristics as a candidate is to invite a fulsilade from people who will tell you to either work harder to get Democrats elected, accuse you of being a closet Republican or simply deny the truth of what you're saying without further discussion.

3. But that makes us
no better! This "we're Dees, so we can do no wrong" and "dissent = treason" type of thing is even worse coming from us, imo, than when it comes from the rightwingnuts.

I was orphaned at 11 yrs old, put myself thru grade school and university, and have been married for the past 12 years to a US soldier...so one would think I wasn't a starry-eyed idealist by now, lol!

But nope, I guess I've always been a very starry-eyed idealist about the Democratic Party and didn't even know it. To see the same type of behaviour on this board, by some (assumingly) progressives, as one sees on the RWW boards...this is probably very stupid of me, but I find it deeply shocking.

What happened; just that recently it seems someone will post their own opinion on something, such as tonight several members posted that they felt the VP debate was a draw, and then WHAM, some of the "progressives" just flamed the hell out of them.

Why don't they just post "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!" O'Reilly style, already.

For the first time in my life, I'm looking into Independant parties. I don't want to belong to a "must march in lockstep" Party. Left or right. I can't believe I was such an idealist about a political Party.

4. I agree with you Lynn
I would think that this would be an okay place to post that I completely DON'T agree with Kerry/Edwards on their interpretation or ideas on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. However, I buried my dissent in another post where it was never picked up on. I felt good for getting it out, and no one had to see it.

That's too bad. We don't have to agree with these candidates no matter what they say. There are only three main candidates and those candidates don't represent only three types of Americans.
