Cats do NOT always land on their feet |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 07:50 AM by underpants
As I was getting dressed this morning I was in front of the stand up mirror combing my hair with the middle dresser draw open when from behind me I heard the unmistakable sound of the girl cat making a charge. I had just recently opened the door to the bedroom, I had had it closed so as to dissipate her insatiable fascination with the "forbidden closet of mystery" in our bedroom-once she gets in there it can take 10-15 minutes to get her out.
She tried to make the leap from the bed to the dresser (possibly trying to get in the dresser drawer-she LOVES the dresser drawers, opens them herself) and she came up short. She looked just like the Red Sox's Johnny Damon sliding into second for an easy double (at this point of the season however the girl cat is less furry). Left rear leg extended, right rear leg tucked under her, front legs at first to the front then suddenly swung out on either side as she realized she wasn't going to make it. THUD! right on her ass she hit. Her eyes as wide as saucers. Landed right by my feet.
I looked at her she looked at me and we both looked at the boy cat watching from atop the dresser giving ME a "See what I have to deal with when you all are gone?" look.

3. No ladders needed for the Damon cat |

Demon cat.
She loves to go top shelf in our walk in closet. A real bear to get her out of there I'll tell ya.

4. You have committed an unforgivable folly |
|
You have caught a cat being ungraceful and undignified. You should instantly be put to death.

They screw up all the time. My favorite of the boy cat's was when he tried to go from the edge of the sink to the top of the refridgerator, he didn't account for the slipperyness of the wet counter top.
Made it about half way and then froze for a second and then went straight down. He does get upset she doesn't seem to care much about anything except Poppa's lap.

6. As someone who's always had at least 3 cats at all times |
|
I've seen a lot of examples of feline ungracefulness.
I currently have 6 cats and a very energetic border collie puppy, and sometimes my house looks like NASCAR with fur, with multiple cat pile-ups.

8. Have seen similar things many times. |

And when a cat falls flat on it's ass, it looks at you, "I meant to do that." :-)
Oh, and the dirty looks they give us when we laugh at them...:scared:

Having been owned by several cats (I have 5 now) I can attest to the fact that not only do they not always land on their feet, but contrary to the belief of many, they can be quite klutzy!
