When can I put out my halloween decorations? I have
kewl plastic black kitties, some crows, sparkly pumpkins... to create a little scene on the porch. 10 year old says I have to wait until I see someone ELSE doing it. I say SET A TREND!

I could start with the pumpkins and add in the eerie characters as it gets closer, couldn't I?

3. Halloween is one of my FAVORITE days even though I am
Jewish and it's a Christian holiday with pagan roots...

I say good ole All Hallows Eve does not get it's due...I mean it comes at the end of October (my FAVORITE month) when the stores are already shoving Christmas and all things December down our throats.

Halloween is fun! fun! fun!!

I say put out the skeletons and ghosts now!

13. Hallowen Is A "Fun Day"
I prefer it over Christmas and it's right in the middle of Football Season.

5. First of October at the earliest
during the first week of October is even better. I've you're like me you'll get tired of seeing all that stuff on your lawn after a while. Give it a rest until the second week in October is best.

8. Yes you could. My neighbor currently has a hay bale, two pumpkins
and a couple of corn stalks on her porch, and I am guessing will add the spider webs later. I prefer to put mine up on the afternoon of Halloween and leave them up until the week of Christmas, when I run yelling down the street after the garbagemen dragging dry cornstalks behind me. Do what feels right. ;)

9. Not until after Columbus Day.
Or, as we like to express it in Delaware County, PA, not until after Leif Erikson Day.

11. I like Halloween too...
I too can't wait to put out the fun decorations. You have to feed your spirit. I'm waiting until I see the trees turning, although in the south they don't have the leaves in color like up north. I think fall starts in the middle of Sept, and that is when I'm going to get out the pumpkins. Change is so nice. I wish we could all share pics of our front porches and lawns. Mrs. Moose

10. I'd say October 1
In Brooklyn Hallowe'en lights were big....almost as big as Xmas lights...

Now that I'm a NJ homeowner, I'm avidly looking forward to it....at least two real jack-o-lanterns, some tree lights, and a costume for the dog!

12. I agree with the October 1 crowd...
I need at least a couple weeks to build my full sized coffin that opens on it's own. For those of you who are REALLY into Halloween, and want to kick your holiday up a notch, I recommend visiting this website: www.deviousconcoctions.com check out the DC Props sections. They have step by step instructions on how to build some really cool stuff, as well as two instruction books for sale, which I just got in the mail. Happy Haunting!

www.halloween.com and www.halloweenmovies.com
The latter is the official website of Michael Myers...the official boogieman.
There is a virtual haunted house at www.bonegarden.com which is kinda neat.

14. Oct 1, Yes!
Sooner than Oct 1 is a bit tacky IMO.

But it is entirely appropriate to enjoy your decorations all October long. :D

15. At the autumnal equinox
a.k.a., the first day of fall. After that, drag out all the pumpkins, hoblins, kitties, and crows that you want.

17. A Few Years Ago
I saw an Orange Moon.

A neighbor noticed a "Cheeky" Pumpkin and used it in a way Matcom would approved of: another straw figure with a Cincy "Bungles" helmet and uniform was facing the crack.

September 12th. You may begin putting up all your Halloween decorations on September 12th.

23. Ok I'll COMPROMISE. I'll put out the sparkly punkins denoting FALL
and gradually add the spooky -- but TASTEFUL -- halloween things, like the black cats, the orange and purple lights, and the crows.

I don't do ghosts and stuff. although, maybe a tombstone would be fun.... hmmm.....

Put out your decorations whenever you want - they're yours.

If you can't put out your decorations whenever you want, the terrorists have won.

24. Decorate for generic FALL now, Halloween in 2 weeks.
Put out the crows, scarecrows, bales of hay, bushels of wheat, gourds,etc.--just save the scary stuff till Halloween is about 5 weeks out.

(This is the logic my partner and I used in decorating his gourmet food shop--he's bringing Halloween out verrrrrrry slowly, unlike his next-door-neighbor with a card/stationary shop who redid her entire store and front window for Halloween the THIRD WEEK OF AUGUST!!! Yes, she's already got a Christmas section up, too.)

25. Halloween is a Christian Holiday?
Back home, Halloween was called satanic and we had to go to a special church party, where we couldn't wear costumes and we had to watch a video about the SATANICness of the holiday. I kid you not. Of course, luckily, after the first three years of this, my dad found it retarded and I finally got to go trick or treating.

26. I go all out for Halloween and begin the 1st week of Oct
I add a little each week and by the week before, every corner of my yard and porch is decorated.

Pumpkins, bats, tombstones, lights, candles, ghosts, dead bodies(stuffed old clothing with fake blood)...kids have to stick their hand in one of three black holes (a big box made to look like a haunted house) to get their treats...or trick(YES! I do tricks, too)

Never put out decorations for one holiday if there's another holiday before it.
