Grrrrrr...Why do small children have to scream when they play? |
|
I'm supposed to be working (okay, I'm here) and the shouting is just irritating. I adore our new next door neighbors (she's a teacher with a Kerry sign out front) but their son annoys the hell out of me. A little bit of yelling is one thing. But this boy can yell as loud as the barges coming down the waterway.
AAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!
Then, when he wants my son to come out, he stands in his backyard and shouts my son's name as loud as he can. Sigh....

1. You never yelled or screamed while playing |
|
when you were young?
They're only kids, leave them alone.

21. Well I'm sorry you have to deal with this situation |
|
and I'm sorry if I wasn't that sensitive to your venting in my earlier post.
I don't have kids but i did work with kids for 5 years and I think little kids are great, screams and all.
I can relate though, sometimes, it does get a little nutty.

22. I adore kids. Really I do. I cry every morning on the way home after |
|
dropping them off at school. This little boy can be the sweetest thing ever, and then he gets mad or excited and Yowza!!! I'll always remember when they first moved in. Really loud bellow, MrG looks at me and said, "What the f*ck was that???" They truly are awesome neighbors and I wouldn't trade them. I just hope he gets over it. :)

13. stupid suggestion here: |
|
first off, this made me laugh because i am in complete agreement with you.
but i was wondering. have you pointed out to the young chap that at least when he wants your son to come out, instead of shouting it to the neighborhood, maybe he could come up to the door and knock. and then just ask or suggest your son comes out to play.
who knows. but at least when it has to do with your child, you can point out there is an alternative to being the village crier
good luck!

14. Not stupid at all. I will try it, although I am not sure if his mother |
|
lets him play out front or not. Perhaps a phone call instead...
Thanks! :hi:

23. sounds good. something resembling everyday life (a compromise?) |
|
taking everyone into account, seems right in order.....
hope it works out. if not, i might add another suggestion! an air filter - for you i mean. i live in a city apt, and an air filter can work wonders by giving a low level background noise that tamps down the rough edges of music etc. when i take a nap or need some peaceful "white" noise

30. when my son was pretty young 1-2 |
|
he used to shreik like a bird. It was deafening. We used to call him pterodactyl boy. (like on Johnny Quest or dinosaur show) The other kids would be asleep and he would be wide awake and really loud. HE did grow out of it.

16. Get a very savage Dog that likes to eat Children who...... |
|
....scream. Don't tell the little boy about the dog but do offer him large amounts of candy if he can scream the loudest.
When his Mother comes out of the house and can't find her son, say this real loud: "The Dingo ate your Baby!" :)

I work nights and sleep during the day, and am constantly barking at the teenagers that congregate right outside my window.
ME: HEY! DO YOU F***ING MIND????
Ryan (he lives in the apartment above me): SORRY SUSAN, WE DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE HOME
ME: YOU ARE SITTING ON MY CAR!!!

I like the sound of children yelling and playing, but right outside the window could be a bit much. :eyes:
But soon you'll have your windows closed and that'll be the end of it, right? :)

20. The best form of birth control there is |
|
I am an only child, and married into a family of seven sisters/brothers-in-law and fifteen nieces/nephews, ranging in age from 1 to 18 years old, most of them pre-teens.
The yelling and screaming at family gatherings is always another gentle reminder of why we are childless by choice.
Other people's screaming kids-- the most effective form of birth control ever invented!

We have a bunch of boys who play soccer in our alley, and it's like having eight blackboards being scratched with fingernails simultaneously. Did I mention that I drink a bit?

It is driving me up the wall. It seems to have peaked and he's getting better, but I'm still afraid that the neighbors think we torture him.
