3. Don't overlook "Rover Dangerfield".
An animated feature where Rodney voiced a city dog that got lost in the country. Cute in spots, but more for the grownups than the kids.

13. My favorite scene of the whole movie
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 04:22 PM by No2W2004
Sam Kinison: “You remember that little thing we had about 30 years back called, uh, the KOREAN CONFLICT? Yeah, so why don’t you tell me how come we didn’t go in there, cross the 38th parallel and blast those rice eaters back to the Great Wall of China, and nuke them back to the stone age!! Say it!!! Say it!!!”

Rodney Dangerfield: “I’ll tell ya why! ‘Cause Truman was too much off a pussy to let MacArthur go in there, and blow out those commie bastards!!”

He thinks he can't be touched. Bad thinking.

16. He did a great turn as Burns' son
on the simpsons.

Caddyshack is the best movie, hands down. But I think he did his best work as a stand-up.

17. Easy Money, hands down
Let's face it, even in cameo roles, the man smelled like a genius. He was an unexpected spice next to Juliette Louis in Natural Born Killers and made a fantastic grandpa lucifer next to Harvey Keitel and Adam Sandler in Little Nicky.

He was one of the rare funny "blue" comics way back in the day, with the likes of Don Rickles and Red Foxx. He helped launch several young comedian's careers, like Carol Leifer and Sam Kinnison.

And people liked him. I know i'll miss him. O8)

19. The first stanza of Billy Joel's "My Life" was written for him.
"Got a call from an old friend
We used to be real close
Said he couldn't go on the American way
Closed the shop, sold the house
Bought a ticket to the west coast
Now he gives them a stand-up routine in L A"

RIP Rodney!

22. Natural Born Killers
not a typical "Rodney role" which made his appearance all the more dramatic.

Caddyshack and Easy Money for the double-up funny.

Is this the only film that he was in that wasn't a comedy?

24. I can't think of any other dramatic parts he played without consulting
imdb.com.

'NBK' was satire. I'm not a gore-hound (and this movie wasn't THAT bad) but imho it's Oliver Stone's most misunderstood/underrated film.

26. His turn in NBK was frightening, and very convincing.
Too bad the rest of the film, in clearer hindsight, was pretty awful.

27. Agreed. NBK sucked, but Rodney's scene
as the abusive, hideous, gutter-mouthed father of the
family from hell---ALL TO A BOISTEROUS SITCOM LAUGHTRACK---
was one of the most strange, hilarious, shocking scenes
of all time. Would never recommend the flick, but that
scene (or maybe it was a couple scenes) was just from another
world.
