Country Music?
Can anyone suggest some good country music? I know everyone loves to hate it, but there has to be some good country out there besides Johnny Cash.

5. Here are three...
1). Waylon Jennings Live: The Expanded Edition: 42 tracks on 2 CDs, Jennings when he was still climbing the ladder....tough, lean stuff.

2). Buck Owens & His Buckaroos Carnagie Hall Concert: Primarily to hear the late, great Buckaroos guitarist Don Rich at his peak.

3). Dwight Yoakam: Just Lookin' For A Hit...to get the studio version of "Long White Cadillac," one of the greatest rockabilly stompers EVER.

14. Willie is a great, dignified guy.
The IRS took it all...but he kept a smile on his face, kept making music, kept moving forward...I respect his craft, but I respect him more for the way he conducted himself through that whole mess.

I saw George Jones and Merle Haggard in concert at the old "Circle Star Theater" in San Carlos, CA. Some guy yelled "Okee Fumma Skogee! Okee Fumma Skogee!" at the end of every Haggard song. About 6 songs into the set, Haggard sang "Okie From Muskogee." At the end of the song the guy yelled "THANK YA, MERLE!"

Country music has a lot of character, to be sure.

6. i used to hate it
but my girlfriend's dad produced a lot of old country, so it's gotten me into it.

some of the people he's produced for:

willie nelson
dolly parton
kris kristofferson
waylon jennings
johnny cash
the highwaymen
roy orbison (not country, but he was totally cool)

any of those are good. i have a strict opinion that making country music is reserved for people over 55 years old. any younger than that and it basically sucks.
