Favorite Movie Theaters!
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 07:59 PM by Mayberry Machiavelli
Mine:

#1 without a question, is the Uptown, on Connecticut Ave. in D.C. Big screen, historic landmark, great architecture, great neighborhood. Fond memories waiting in lines snaking around the block to see "Star Wars" 4 times during the summer of its release, sitting on the sidewalk playing hearts and spades with my school friends while waiting for the movie.

#2 probably K-B Cinema on Wisconsin Ave., D.C.

#3 Bethesda Cinema and Drafthouse (watching Pulp Fiction with pitchers of beer and pizza and nachos, pretty nice!)

At my current digs I like Dallas' downtown Angelika theater complex. Nice bar/cafe setup, decent food you can bring into the theater, good film selection, cool restaurants and surrounding neighborhood.

On edit: I'm not sure if the theater on Wisconsin is still called "K-B Cinema"

12. Boston
The Brattle Theatre in Cambridge. I saw the complete works of Christopher Guest there a few years ago.

Also, the Town Hall Theatre in Wilton, New Hampshire. Cutest little theatre in the country, and the only place my parents will see a movie.

8. Avon Cinema, Providence RI
An old vaudeville theater made into a single screen theater that plays cool movies at night. And they have $2 bills and $.50 pieces as change!
