Mac whizzes I need help here.....
Okay, I inserted my scan disk card for a digital camera into the external scandisk port. Yet, the icon will not show up so I can get to the pictures. It is plugged in and was working fine earlier today.
Any ideas?

1. be sure
the film is in the right way
some readers like the gold plate down, some up
unplug and plug it into the usb with the film in
maybe a last resort: film in, port attached, restart?

3. Try rebooting
Sometimes the USB bus seems to get a little wigged on OSX. Since it worked earlier today, it's probably not a configuration issue. You might also check to see whether iPhoto sees it.

ps. If you were a geek, you might want to grep through your /var/log/system.log file for any lines that had 'USB' in it. You can use the /Applications/Utilities/Console to view the logs as well. It might provide some valuable clues if it happens again or if rebooting doesn't fix it.

5. OSX?
Once and a while a restart works. My computer stays on for weeks sometimes and occaisionally a restart helps. Also make sure you're current with software update (although sometimes that can be a problem).

6. Since you haven't mentioned anything about your OS
or type of Mac you are using, it's hard to make a diagnosis. Given that, I would suggest restarting your computer. If you're on an older system/machine, you might try rebuilding your desktop if just restarting doesn't work.
