Any DU'ers from Downey, CA? What should I expect? |
|
Work is sending me to Downey for a few days...besides the Carpenters museum and the worlds oldest McDonalds, what should I expect?

Get in your rental and go up to Hollywood or down to Newport.
The old Mcdonalds on Lakewood isn't the same anyway. Chris & Pitts across the street is OK.

2. Oh I've seen Hollywood, Newport, the Sunset Strip |

One million times over...I've noticed the suburbs of LA have a certain strange charm that is absent from our Norcal counterparts.
Hard to explain...

rent a car and drive south to Long Beach or west to Santa Monica etc..
Not much to do in Downy and parts of it can be a bit rough..NOT the whole place but you don't know the town and where to go.

4. Huh! I was just out to Downey last week..... |
|
my company's pharmacy operations & research is there. They have a huge computer setup (IBM gave them two free RISC boxes!) and their pill counting & packing machines are quite something.

Downey is a nice residential area but there ain't shit to do. I'm with the other DU'ers recommending way better places than Downey
