The Sad Saga of Yankees-Haters
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 10:47 PM by Yavin4
It must really suck to be a Yankees hater. You sit there and think you're going to win. You're high-fiving each other. You're feeling good about life. You see the go-ahead homer by Hunter. You can't wait to rub it in the face of Yankees fans. But then...

A walk.

You think no big deal. Then...

Another walk.

You start feeling nervous. Your start thinking Bucky Dent. Aaron Boone. Now, you're joy is turning into angst. You start crying for the opposing manager to pull the pitcher. You start slamming things around. And then...

A-ROD!! BANG! Fat Double. Game's tied. You start throwing things around screaming. You turn off the TV. But you can't leave it off, so you turn it back on. And then...

Pop fly. Yes, you got the second out, but Jeter, Mr. Postseason, is going from third. You feel he's going to be tagged out, but NOOOO!!!

JETER SCORES!!! YANKEES WIN!!!! THHHEEE YANKEES WIN!!!

The hate wells up inside of you. It burns. It burns.

HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH!!!!!

(On Edit)
Then you blame the Yankees payroll as the reason why they won.

4. Oh Stop It.
Please. Stop. The Twins are proving that money alone cannot win you championship. The Twins' payroll is 1/4 of the Yankees payroll, and they're playing right along with the Yankees.

George Steinbrenner bought the team. Did the salary disparity go all the way back to 1918?

5. I thought Torre managed horribly tonight
Mariano cannot be expected to get 5 or 6 outs every night. He should have left Gordon in. Rivera didn't blow the save - Torre did. He is way over-using Mariano.

10. I think that's why I don't like the Yankees.
It's really not their payroll.
It's really not the team.
It's the fans.

I don't hate the Yankees. Not anymore.
Not when I have such gracious winners like you to show me what it's like to be arrogant.
Cripes.
The Twins aren't even the Yankees rivals. I could understand this if this series was between the Red Sox and the Yankees. But cripes, it's the Minnesota Twins.

The Twins fans have had their shameful moments. When Chuck Knoblauch was a Yankee, and that horrid display out in center field when he first returned to the Metrodome. And...I think that's all I got.
Cripes.

Can't even call it a good game, (which it was.)
Can't even say "You guys really gave us a run for the money tonight." (which they did.)

Nope. Gotta sit there and gloat.

13. actually to be fair Steinbrenner has given money to democrats
That said, I hate the Yankees for a good reason, no not because of money, though I find it annoying they always seem to get a big name every year, this past year A-Rod and Sheffield, who'll be next, the real reason I hate them is simple, 1996 ACLS. Then again I guess I can say my team the orioles is the only since 1996 to win a division championship other than the yanks.

the Yankees' payroll comes to $180.3 million for their 40-man roster, including benefits. The updated figure compiled by the commissioner's office translates to a projected tax bill of $10.8 million that will come due Jan. 31.

$60 million (or thereabouts) . . . and then there's the revenue generated when the Yankess play in opponents' stadiums . . . they usually sell out the place . . . then add in all the extra dough from the concessions, programs, etc. . . all in all, other teams do very well . . .

Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc.

Just taking every and any opportunity to defame the Yanks.
My earlier post was merely a repetition of something I heard on the radio -- I guess if you're an uptight Yankees fan you'd take the time to do the research. If I had prefaced my remarks with "since WWII", I was right.

Yankees players - and not because they're cute.

As A Red Sox fan I know that you NEVER count the Yankees out.

They consistently come back in extra innings - I bet their numbers would show they do it more than any other team.
