Remember the video for "Twilight Zone" by Golden Earring? |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 11:48 PM by LoZoccolo
Remember it was real controversial because the guy got shot at the end? My mom didn't even want me watching it! (I think I was seven when it came out.)
I like those really early videos because some of them were really fucked up and surreal because they were messing around with a new medium or something. I think about videos like "Total Eclipse of the Heart", "Harden My Heart", and "Jeopardy". There was also some surreal Lindsey Buckingham video from early MTV too, but I can't quite remember what song it was.
Anyone else have memories of this weird period of MTV?

"Ce Soir" Another assassin song!!! I recall seeing them live and the drummer actually jumping completely over his rack toms, off the riser and onto the stage floor! Landing on his feet!!!

I was 9 when i saw the video. I didn't even know who Fleetwood Mac was at the time, now that I do, I still can't believe the guy who sang "Dont Stop" created that song. I don't remember seeing the "Twilight Zone" video, but I do remember the song.
Edit: Don't stop, not can't stop.

9. you should listen to their live album. |
|
"Oh Well" is great!, it's just him, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, and they could have easily been a hard rock band.
Christine McVie wrote "Don't Stop", and sang lead on it too, although her voice is very deep, Lindsey actually has a higher pitch than her.

I was thinking it was Lindsey because he sang it at the 2000 Democratic Convention. I think it was 2000,at least. It may have been 1996.

5. I also remember this one... |
|
...where it was set in like medieval times, and they had some woman hanging by her arms suspended by this wood rack, and these creepy elves were feeling up her legs. Now I know they showed this one at least twice, but I remember even back then thinking they didn't have enough videos to show yet and they'd show just about anything they could get to start out with.

6. I'm a youngin' so the first really intersting video I saw was |
|
"Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits. Both the song and the video didn't stand the test of time for me, but it bugged me out when I first saw it. And years later I discovered that it is actually one of the worst songs in the Dire Straits catalog. I'm not exactly a big fan but I dig em, and thier guitarist can tear ass.

8. This IS the weird period of MTV. |
|
Back then it was about art.
Now it is about future freepers singing about Jesus to their promise rings.
Today or Total Rejects Live they had all these kids screaming for freaking Regis and Kelly.
