What TV shows do you regularly watch?
I realize we're probably all gonna list news shows, but I never see anyone here mention what, if anything, they watch on regular old TV.

Here's my list:
Gilmore Girls. Best. Show. On. TV. Since. Demise. Of. Buffy.
Smallville--junky writing but I'm a Supes fan.
Simpsons, of course. We call it "church" in my house.
Sopranos, every 36 months or so.
The Shield, " " "
Bill Maher's show.
TDS, of course.

You?

1. Not much beside news anymore
But I regularly watch Everwood, SNL, and now Lost. Also, Jon Stewart and Olbermann. I have a reality-tv free viewing schedule. :D

5. I hear good things about Lost
Weren't they supposed to re-run the first two episodes at some point?

The only fear is that JJ Abrams will go nuts with the storyline the way he did last year on Alias. If you're not a fan of Alias I can explain further.

Any political shows I am interested in, I can find out about here. To relax, I surf the internet or read books.

15. Forgot about Jack & Bobby...
Yeah, me too with the verdict out. I like it but i see two trends developing:

A) Mom gets her comeuppance each episode for being a forceful, strong-headed (gasp!) woman

and

B)Every episode has to show some new "startling!" revelation about what kind of adult Bobby winds up being--gasp! he was a Republican?!--gasp! he's a minister?!

And I was crying holy bullshit batman at the image of the mom 'gettin' into' the gospel spectacle at the end of this week's show. Ridiculously out of character.

17. Yeah that was a bit too much .
Minutes ago she was saying she hoped it was the only time they went to church , next minute she is praising it to the roof .

I was kind of hoping that the other brother (Jack) became President . Maybe there is some twist , maybe he becomes President too ... because they are only focusing on Bobby's future . He is a preacher Independent in the end ...

The mom works my nerve every episode . I give this show one more episode of my time and then I won't care anymore ...

18. Them's fightin' words
Well, not really, but I do always question how someone can say that. Is it based on a period of time when you DID watch TV? If not, then how would you arrive at that conclusion? And how do you feel about cinema? And books?

I find that there is substance on television, it just requires some searching. Assuming that you do appreciate cinema, I would say that I cherish, for instance, the gritty, character-driven dialogue of The Sopranos more than any of the theater and cinema that Mamet or Shepard are (perhaps over-)praised for.

Not pickin a fight, just curious as to how you arrive at that.

28. Okay...
We don't have cable so I don't watch The Sopranos and stuff like that. We're very into movies and rent them. My daughter watches tv so I occasionally walk in and check out what she's watching. So I'm not totally naive as to what's on. But I'd rather read a book and listen to music than spend an evening watching tv. And on weekends we get together with friends and have dinner and talk. So not much time for tv there.

I like the Adult Swim lineup (Comedy, of course. Not an anime fan),
Antiques Roadshow, Mythbusters, The Simpsons, Sanford and Son reruns on TV Land, and that's all I can think of right now. I'm not really into new sitcoms or dramas that much.

25. Believe it or not, there is actually a measurable Dem presence here now.
Don't know when you were here, but I assume it was during King Strom's dynasty.

* is so devisive that I see more Kerry signs and anti-Bush stuff this year than in my other 13 Lowcountry years combined. You can probably appreciate how surprising this is. And pleasing.

Otherwise, it's still pretty warm. Gotta drive up to Charlotte if I wanna experience autumn.

When were you here?

20. Right now the only show I make a point to watch is Lost
If I'm bored, I'll catch Gilmore Girls. I might watch the OC and 24 when they come back on. Other than that, I'll catch some of the cooking shows on PBS on the weekend, and the odd PBS special like the one on the origin of Earth last week.

23. all those channels and so little on - but
Gilmore Girls - started as a bonding thing with our daughter - now watch for ourselves and tape it for her away at college
Enterprise - I'll always be a Trekker, no matter what
Two and a Half Men - love it
The Daily Show - for the only real news on TV
Monk - a great mixture of deduction and insanity

I just cannot watch any of the "news" shows, or the reality ones either.

I also have to confess that we watch way too much of H&G, TLC, and all the rest with the home dec and landscaping shows. With a 110 year old house, there is always something to do.

The rest is just hit and miss.
